Preventive yoga is about helping maintain the vigour and good health associated with youth.

It is a fact that as we age our bodies tend to become more rigid and inflexible. Some people in their twenties can already find they suffer from stiff joints and back pain, often from their sedentary lifestyles or working hunched at desks or computers for long periods of time.

The loss of the capacity to move and bend with flexibility is the defining hallmark of old age.

Of all the different types of exercise ever devised, yoga has shown itself as a system which can preserve our youthful suppleness and physical well-being AND our sense of emotional well-being better than any other.

  • Learn a routine you can fit easily into your everyday life.

  • Assess your own strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan which is right for your body and your lifestyle.

    Whether you’re a fit 45 year old, interested in increasing your strength or flexibility, or a fit 65 year old, if your general health and fitness level is good and you want to know how to maintain it, this programme is probably the right one for you.

Our belief: We have more control of our age than we sometimes think!

This programme is good for you if :

  1. You are fit, active and/or into competitive sports.
  2. Your life is high pressured and you feel a sense of stress or anxiety.

What you’ll experience:

  • An individual assessment of your current flexibility, strength and any health issues.
  • An initial 10 session programme which will give you your own plan to:
  1. Increase flexibility in your muscles and joints
  2. Strengthen your spine, reducing risk of back pain
  3. Learn how to relax muscles to release stress or tension from life pressures or after strenuous exercise
  4. Improve balance
  5. Ease aches and pains in joints

How programmes work:

Ideally, join a "kick-start" programme first.

You'll learn enough in these 10 sessions to be able to continue on your own at home if you want to.

You don’t have to attend specific dates - but you do have to attend 10 sessions over a 16 week period. This is to help you really get used to the new exercises, to set your personal health goals, establish your own personal routine and begin to encourage new habits which will stick.

After your 10 sessions you can continue either as a drop in, or choose one of the discounted regular user options.

Interested In Therapeutic Yoga or more personalised sessions?

If you suffer with a severe medical condition it may be that therapeutic and restorative sessions which teach you  more restorative postures and breathing techniques in smaller groups or 1-1 might be best for you - at least initially.
