There are 2 courses to choose from in September: Yoga for Beginners OR Yoga for Healthy Back and Core
These courses are held at Cantley Methodist Church; Tickhill Pavilion and Bawtry Memorial Sports Ground  
 

 

6 WEEK YOGA FOR BEGINNERS COURSEHELD TICKHILL; CANTLEY & BAWTRY

 
The beginner programme is good for you if:
  • You have never done yoga before and you're nervous about joining a mixed class.
  • You'd like to learn the basics - this course covers around 25 of the basic yoga postures and breathing, meditation and relaxation  techniques, so you understand the fundamentals and gain confidence.
  • You'd like to learn enough to be able to practice at home.
  • You'd like to receive a sheet giving you information about the poses  you learn, and access to an online space which has the information on how to practise the poses at home.
  • You are able to commit to all 6 sessions - which will start and end on specific dates.(Please note - there is some flexibility with this - if you cannot attend up to 2 of these sessions you can swap for one of Shona's other classes. However, after 2 swaps if you miss any more you will miss the session completely and there is no reimbursement.)

 WHEN AND WHERE?

1) Cantley Methodist Church: programme starts Thursday 5th September at 6.15 pm till 7.15 pm and runs for 6 weeks  

2) Bawtry Memorial Sports Hall: course starts Monday 2nd September at 6.15pm till 7.15pm and runs for 6 consecutive weeks.

3) Tickhill Bowling Pavillion (NOT cricket Pavilion!) course starts Wednesday 4th September at 6.15 till 7.15 pm and runs for 6 consecutive weeks.

YOGA FOR HEALTHY BACK AND CORE COURSE 


The Yoga for Healthy Back and Core course is good for you if:
  • You suffer with a bad back or lack of flexibility which hampers your usual activities. (If you have sustained an injury or have a chronic condition, please do talk to your GP before coming to class.)
  • Your core muscles are weak.
  • You want to increase your strength and flexibilty in your back.
  • You want to prevent the risk of injury.
  • You want to improve your posture and alignment.
  • You would like to understand how to build a simple routine into your everyday life which will significantly benefit your strength, posture, alignment and flexibility.
  • You are able to commit to all 6 sessions - which will start and end on specific dates.(Please note - there is some flexibility with this - if you cannot attend up to 2 of these sessions you can swap for one of Shona's other classes. However, after 2 swaps if you miss any more you will miss the session completely and there is no reimbursement.)

 

WHEN AND WHERE?

1) Cantley Methodist Church:   This course starts Tuesday 3rd September at 7.30pm

2) Tickhill Bowling Pavilion: This course starts Wednesday 4th September at 7.30pm

What you need to know about these fixed term programmes:

  • These courses are fixed programmes - running for only 6 weeks. However, there will be other  programmes offered throughout 2019, so if you miss this one but want to come to another, contact Shona to go on the mailing list and you'll be one of the first to find out about new programmes.
  • Full 6 week programme is £40 - If you are a new student - you can attend the first session for £5, but if you do wish to continue you bring the remaining £35 with you to the second session. There are no refunds for non-attendance although there is some flexibility if you cannot make a session - see the next point.
  • Some flexibility about attendance - if you cannot make a class you have up to 2 classes you could attend elsewhere with Shona so you do not lose out on your subscription. However - any more than 2 and you will lose the session with no reimbursement or swapping to another class.
  • Access to a unique online library for members only - so you can see the poses you learn. (NO excuse for not practising at home!)

 6 WEEK YOGA FOR DEEP RELAXATION COURSE: HELD TICKHILL AND CANTLEY 

 

 (PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS NOT RUNNING THIS AUTUMN BUT WILL RETURN IN NOVEMBER.) 

 

This class is an oasis in a crazy world!

Is your life a little crazy right now? Whether it's a specific health issue which is challenging  you, you're juggling too many balls, you never seem to have time to unwind, you suffer from chronic pain or find you don't sleep too well - this course might be the right choice for you. 

A VERY slow-paced and gentle series of mostly floor based poses and techniques, and including mindfulness and meditation -  the Yoga for Deep Relaxation Course is good for you if:

  • Life is busy and you find it's hard to unwind.
  • You need some "me-time!"
  • You find you don't always sleep well.
  • You need a more gentle approach to stretching than traditional yoga movements.
  • You suffer from headaches; high blood pressure; tension or anxiety related problems.
  • You live with chronic or acute pain.
  • You are able to commit to 6 sessions - which will start and end on specific dates.(Please note - there is some flexibility with this - if you cannot attend up to 2 of these sessions you can swap for one of Shona's other classes. However, after 2 swaps if you miss any more you will miss the session completely and there is no reimbursement.)
NOTE: IF YOUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE YOUR FLEXIBILITY THE BEGINNER 6 WEEK PROGRAMME WOULD PROBABLY BE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR YOU. 
NB: PLEASE BRING A COUPLE OF CUSHIONS OR PILLOWS AND A SMALL BLANKET WITH YOU TO THIS COURSE.

4 FULLY FLEXIBLE, ONGOING PROGRAMMES
IN EITHER TICKHILL OR CANTLEY
And trialling a NEW 5th regular class in Tickhill - due to demand!!
(Suitable for ALL levels - even if you've no experience)

These classes run all year except Easter or Christmas holidays or exceptional circumstances. Wherever possible I arrange cover when I'm away.

There are students with a varied level of experience in these classes but even as a raw beginner you will find a teaching approach which ensures you never feel intimidated, out of place or that you "can't do it."

You can attend any of these classes and monthly memberships allow you to attend as many classes as you like, including drop in's to the 6 week programme classes too!

Due to high demand and numbers increasing I am trialling running a second class on a Wednesday morning. It is best to reserve a space - but hopefully if one class is full you can attend the other one!
